International keyboard layouts
Lomak keyboards will operate as "plug & play" keyboards with computers in many countries, provided they are set up for that country.
Input languagesThe current list of languages supported by Lomak is given in Layout Table 1, which opens in a separate window.
We refer to each language as a "layout" because each language has its special characters and/or accent marks, and these are allocated to buttons which are specific for that language.
Layout Table 1 shows the setup option codes used to select a given layout. You use these codes as described in the section Setting the keyboard layout in the User preferences page.
The standard layout is for the US keyboard, which is used in the USA and many other countries. Lomak keyboards for the UK, French and Belgian French markets can be supplied with preprinted layouts to suit those markets. For other languages, we provide a set of international characters stickers which can be used to identify the locations of language-specific characters.- refer to the section International key labels in the Training aids page.
A Lomak keyboard set to emulate a given language can be used to create any character in that language, just as though it was a native keyboard sold in that market. The positions of all international characters are defined in the pdf key maps in the following list. If you are using an international layout, we suggest that you download and print a copy of the key map relevant to yout layout.

If your language is not currently supported in the Lomak firmware, we suggest that you try using the US-International setting, as this is designed to create a wide range of international characters.
Use of the US-International layout requires your computer to be set to accept characters generated on the US International keyboard. Refer to the relevant page from the section Selecting a keyboard in your computer in the Contents page.
