Layout Quick Change memories
This page describes the Layout Quick Change facility, which permits Lomak and Notesai users to change between two layouts using a single key.
Layout A and B buttonsThe two large blue buttons to the right of Option 5 on the Control bar are Layout A and Layout B.
These buttons have two purposes:
- In international plug & play layouts, they act as indicator lights which illuminate whenever your keyboard is in Shift-Confirm state, that is, the next character to be sent to the computer will come from the extended key set belonging to that layout.
- They can be set to function as layout "quick change" keys, as described on this page.
For instance, you might like to use the Layout A to select the French layout, and Layout B to select the Belgian French layout.
The Layout A and B keys can each be set to access a memory of a layout number, so that the keyboard can be quickly changed between two favourite layouts without the need for entering the setup mode each time you want to change the layout.
To set the memories, follow the instructions given in the section Layout quick change keys on the User Preferences page.
Note that setting a memory does not change the setting of the current layout—it only changes the memory value.
If either or both layout memories have been set correctly, the current layout can be quickly changed with a single key click, provided you are in keyboard mode.
Simply pause on the Layout A or Layout B key until it illuminates and briefly displays its value on the option keys. This memory value will be transferred to the current layout.
The change in layout is immediate.

If the Layout Quick Change facility is no longer required, you can easily clear the memories. Refer to the section Layout quick change keys on the User Preferences page.
The Layout A and Layout B keys will then no longer respond to the pointer.
However, if your keyboard is set for a plug & play layout which has extended keys, one or other of these buttons will illuminate whenever your keyboard is in Shift-Confirm state.
