Using the mouse
Your Lomak or Notesai keyboard can operate as an extra mouse connected to your computer.
Changing to mouse mode| Mouse button | Rest key |
To control the computer's mouse, pause briefly on the Mouse button until it turns on. Whenever this button is illuminated, the Lomak is in Mouse mode and the buttons in the central blue region will now respond to the pointer.
Much of the rest of the keyboard will now be inactive, except for the Shift, Ctrl, Alt, and Start keys.
You can enter Rest mode by clicking the Rest key at the right of the Control bar. Touching Rest a second time will return you to Mouse mode again.
If you pause the pointer on the left arrow, the mouse cursor will start moving left and the keyboard's buzzer will make a sound (if the buzzer has not been turned off). To stop movement, touch Confirm.
Up, down and right movements are controlled in the same way.
Using your keyboard's mouse does not prevent you from using any other mouse connected to your computer.
The current mouse pointer speed setting is shown on one of the mouse speed keys on the Control bar.
To adjust the mouse pointer speed, select one of these buttons (‘0’ is the slowest speed and ‘5’ the fastest). Speed changes can be made at any time while in Mouse mode, even while the mouse cursor is in motion. This means that you can go fast at first, then slow down as you approach your target.
To stop mouse movement, touch Confirm or click the Rest button.
As well as the direction arrows, four mouse "click" buttons are provided:

You can click Ctrl, Alt, and/or Shift buttons prior to the above mouse clicks to create any desired combinations.
Move the mouse pointer using the mouse direction
keys until the mouse cursor is over the object that you want
to click and drag.
Now click the Drag button and confirm. The click action is now held in the ‘on’ position. Drag or move the object by the mouse direction keys until it is in the target position and then click the Drag button again, and confirm. The hold action is now released.
If you find that the mouse direction keys act too quickly, you can set your keyboard to increase the pause time required before the keys activate.
Conversely, if you find the mouse direction keys act too slowly, you can choose a decreased pause time. Refer to the User Preferences page for instructions on how to change the sensitivity of the mouse direction keys.
In Lomak keyboards, you can move the mouse cursor diagonally by touching other mouse arrow keys before stopping motion with Confirm.
When the mouse is moving, you will likely need to look up at the computer screen to check the progress of the cursor. In doing so, your laser pointer may pass through a mouse direction key and thereby inadvertently change the mouse direction. If you find that this action is distracting, you can switch diagonal movements off until you gain more skill and confidence.
Refer to the User Preferences page for instructions on how to change the setting of the mouse diagonal switch.
To revert to keyboard mode, pause briefly on the Mouse button
until its light turns off. The buttons in the central blue
region will now only respond to the pointer if the word prediction
facility has been turned on.
When you change to Keyboard mode, your mouse pointer remains in its most recent position on the screen.
